Aus4Transport Partnership doesn’t slow down
IN BRIEF
The new outbreak of Covid-19 in Vietnam has not stopped Aus4Transport from moving forward. The AUD30 million Australian grant investment program, focused on enhancing the quality of Vietnam’s transport infrastructure, continues to make progress across all its activities.
The new model of partnership applied in this very unique Overseas Development Assistance Program is starting to win the hearts and minds of all parties involved. The Technical Working Group (TWG) decided to meet more frequently, currently getting together once a month, allowing for an open floor where high-level officials of the Ministry of Transport (MOT), representatives of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and the Program Management Consultant (PMC – DT Global) can directly address important matters and ensure concerns are tackled quickly and effectively.

The last TWG meeting occurred on 21 May, through an online videoconference, following Vietnam’s safety regulations to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Despite some initial technical difficulties, all parties showed their commitment to make the Program succeed by ensuring the previously scheduled meeting could still take place and sharing a very cooperative and resolutive attitude.
The meeting, co-chaired by MOT and DFAT, was really fruitful, bringing up for discussion topics such as the extension of the Subsidiary Agreement between Vietnam and Australia, the upcoming Program Design Refresh to consider options for a possible second phase for Aus4Transport, the positive progress of the Stream A Detailed Designs, and the potential Stream B activities ready to be approved.
All the parties were helpful and responsive, focusing on solutions to successfully achieve Aus4Transport’s goals. The next meeting is scheduled to take place on 11 June.
