E-government is becoming a tangible reality for MOT

The Beta Version of the Transport Project Management Information System (TPMIS) has been finalised and it is ready to be tested.
This online interactive platform will allow MOT to easily collect and manage all information regarding transport investment projects, supporting Vietnam in its efforts to achieve a necessary integration between the Ministry of Transport and the central Government e-Procurement and e-Government platforms.
The Beta Version of the TPMIS has been developed, under the Aus4Transport program, in a joint effort between TCQM (Department of Transport Construction and Quality Management), ITC (Information Technology Centre), and the IT firm Grooo International. Next steps include testing of the system, which will be piloted in 5 Project Management Units (PMUs), and training for all stakeholders involved.

Aus4Transport, the transport infrastructure initiative of the Australian Government, is supporting Vietnam in its efforts to facilitate faster project development and improved quality transport infrastructure.
In this activity, Transport Project Management Information System (TPMIS), the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is partnering with the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to build an online Transport Project Management Information System (TPMIS) that will allow MOT to easily collect and manage all information regarding transport investment projects. The data will be digitised and quickly accessible across all MOT departments and concerned administrations, ensuring informed decision making, saving time and costs during project implementation as well as post evaluation.
Currently, much of the reporting is handled manually, stored and exchanged in hard copies, making access to project information difficult, complicating progress and performance monitoring and preventing the agencies from understanding and applying lessons learnt. By establishing a transport project database and a management information system, MOT will have in hand the necessary tools to collect, analyse and optimise the use of project information, securing timely progress, and improving quality and cost-effectiveness of project implementation as well as post evaluation.
All parties involved are really excited to witness such a crucial milestone for the Ministry of Transport, as the TPMIS will become an extremely useful tool to support sustainable growth of the Vietnam’s transport infrastructure sector, contributing to economic development and poverty alleviation.
